To Know and Be Known

The greatest joy and the greatest fear in intimate relationships is to be known,  We fear if others knew all there is to know about us that they wouldn't like us.  This is a common feeling until you get to know others, it is difficult to reveal who we really are, it is a matter of trust.  When we come to know others, over time we reveal ourselves, bit by bit.  It takes time.  Occasionally, you will encounter individuals who are more transparent and cope by talking about their lives more openly.  These people are good for the group as they provide an opening for others to talk about relative struggles.

Rarely does the community grow deeper merely by bible study, the personal revelation of every member is the bond of love that keeps a community together and strong.  Groups are foremost relationship related, not task related.

To know and be known means acceptance, participation, commitment to one another.  We see things in each other that we ourselves cannot see in ourselves.  We support one another through troubles.  We miss one another when the group is incomplete.  We celebrate each others strengths.
